How the Pregnancy Calculator Works

This pregnancy calculator helps you track your pregnancy journey by determining your current gestational week, trimester, days remaining until delivery, and upcoming milestones. You can calculate from either your last menstrual period (LMP) or a known due date, making it flexible for any stage of pregnancy.

When using the LMP method, the calculator counts the days from your last period to today. Pregnancy is measured from the LMP, not conception, which means the first two "weeks" of pregnancy occur before conception. Your due date is set at 280 days (40 weeks) from the LMP. When you enter a known due date, the calculator works backward to determine your LMP and then calculates your current week from there.

The milestones table tracks important events throughout your pregnancy. The first heartbeat becomes detectable around week 6. The nuchal translucency scan at week 12 marks the end of the first trimester. The week 20 anatomy scan provides a detailed look at your baby's development. Week 24 marks the age of viability. Week 37 is considered full term, and week 40 is your estimated due date. Each milestone shows whether it has passed, is happening now, or is upcoming, giving you a clear timeline of your pregnancy journey.
