Frequently Asked Questions
How is my due date calculated?
The due date calculator uses Naegele's rule: add 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). For IVF pregnancies, the IVF due date calculator adjusts based on your embryo transfer or egg retrieval date. These are estimates — your healthcare provider may adjust the date based on ultrasound measurements.
When is the best time to conceive?
The ovulation calculator estimates your fertile window, which is typically 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself. For a 28-day cycle, ovulation usually occurs around day 14. The conception calculator helps you identify the most likely conception date based on your cycle and due date.
How much weight should I gain during pregnancy?
Recommended weight gain depends on your pre-pregnancy BMI. For a normal BMI (18.5-24.9), the guidelines suggest 25-35 pounds total. Underweight women should gain 28-40 pounds, overweight women 15-25 pounds, and obese women 11-20 pounds. Our pregnancy weight gain calculator tracks your progress against these guidelines by trimester.
How tall will my child be as an adult?
The child height predictor uses the mid-parental height method: average both parents' heights, then add 2.5 inches for boys or subtract 2.5 inches for girls. This gives a rough estimate within a 4-inch range. Genetics account for about 60-80% of adult height, with nutrition and health playing a role too.
